Ford F-150 SVT Raptor on the Nurburgring

This is Tanner Foust on the Nurburgring in a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor. I’m guessing this is a factory backed effort since Foust drives a Ford Fiesta rally/gymkhana car. That’s gotta take some balls to drive an offroad vehicle on the world’s most difficult road racing track much less drift it through Schwalbenschwanz.

Jeep Mighty FC Concept

Jeep decided to reinvent some of their classic models as concepts for the Jeep Safari in Moab this year. One of the concepts is called The Mighty FC which is a re-imagining of my favorite classic Jeep, the FC-170. The FC stands for “Forward Controls” which is another way to say the cab is pushed all the way to the front of the truck. They did this to provide a longer bed for the wheelbase. Motor Trend’s YouTube channel got to drive The Mighty FC Concept alongside an original ex-military FC-170. Sometimes Jeep will produce their concepts if they receive enough positive feedback. Unfortunately, The Mighty FC will probably not hit production due to the crash safety concerns of having the passengers that far forward on the chassis.

PAL-V Flying Car

The Dutch PAL-V company has spent the last 7 years developing this flying car, the PAL-V 1. As a car, it works as a leaning 3 wheeler and it’s a gyrocopter in the air. The 213 hp gasoline engine has to come to a full stop to convert between ground and air operation. The transformation takes less than 10 minutes. The PAL-V requires 540 feet to take off and only 30 to land. It weighs 1500 pounds and can carry two people up to 500 pounds.

Jon Sibal Rounds Up Japan’s Tuned FT-86’s

The Toyota FT-86 is a new compact sports car co-developed between Subaru and Toyota. The inspiration was to create a affordable, compact, lightweight, rear wheel drive sports car similar to the Toyota AE86 from the 80’s. Production of the new car has just started in Japan and the tuners there have already started working on aftermarket parts for it. Designer Jon Sibal rounded up pictures and videos from some of the big name tuners. This is Manabu “Max” Orido’s IS-F Powered D1 competition car for this year:
