Depth of Speed: My Church
If you like working on cars at all, you will like this video. It’s the latest installment in a series called Depth of Speed. The videos are mini-documentaries about people who are into cars. I enjoy them because they do a good job articulating what it is we love about wrenching and driving so much. It’s always difficult to justify what we do to people who aren’t into cars and simply don’t understand where we get our passion. This particular story is about a man named Allan who loves Datsuns. He says that going into his workshop to make parts is like his church. It’s his place of zen.

Japanese “Vintage Car Style Cool Classics” Meet
I came across this video while exploring related links on YouTube. It’s some amateur footage of people leaving from a “Vintage Car Style Cool Classics” get together in Japan. It’s nice to be able to match some engine exhaust notes with the classic Japanese cars that you always see pictures of like the Hakosuka and Kenmari Skylines. It’s also kind of a look into the roots of VIP style tuning and there’s even a bosozoku car or two in there. The camera work’s not great, but it’s a cool look into the grassroots scene of Japan.

Tokyo Route 246 In Real Life
I thought it was funny that I was able to recognize the Twin Rings of Motegi track in one of the videos I posted on the Facebook Page because I had driven it in Gran Turismo 5. This is video of another one of the GT5 tracks, Tokyo Route 246. It turns out that it’s a real highway in Tokyo. This guy drove his Caterham around the whole route used in the game early one morning while wearing his Stig helmet.
Ibaraki GT-R Owners Meet
Jon Sibal posted these pictures of a GT-R owners meet at the Tsukuba circuit in Japan this past week. It was a pretty impressive gathering of Skylines from all generations. Head over to Jon Sibal’s Blog to see the rest of the pictures.
