Our favorite Triple Turbo Diesel Dragster is still throwing down passes and blowing people’s minds. Here it is putting down a 6.697 at 216.27 mph at the National Hot Rod Diesel Association World Finals in Ennis Texas.

The HachiRock Festival is a celebration of the AE86 “Hachi-Roku” (Corolla GT-S sport RWD here in the US) that takes place every September in Japan. The AE86 is the spiritual successor of the Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ / Toyota GT-86 (it’s where the 86 part of the name comes from). Originally built in the mid 80’s, the AE86 is a lightweight, low power, bare bones driving essentials car. It is difficult to drive fast; but if you can be fast in an AE86, you can be fast in anything. The car’s honest traits have garnered it a cult following around the world, especially in Japan. The HachiRock Festival is one of the annual events where owners and enthusiasts can get together to look at each other’s cars, swap parts and keep up with the latest trends in tuning. Destin from Smarter Everyday just got back from a trip to the jungles of South America to capture some high speed footage of macaws and parrots. He was helping researchers figure out some odd feeding habits caused by a mineral shortage on the western side of the continent. It turns out that the moisture required to sustain the rain forests comes from the Atlantic ocean to the east. By the time it reaches the west coast of South America, the sodium content of the rain has dropped to almost nothing. The macaws and parrots then don’t get enough sodium from the fruit that they eat and have to resort to eating clay.
