Monster Energy flew Ken Block and Vaughn Gittin Jr. to the UK to compete in the Gymkhana GRID Finals. From what I can tell, this was the final event in a European championship. Ken and Vaughn raced the rear wheel drive and all drive champions for fun after they won their events. Oh yeah, there was also a massive party.
Check out Episode 1 of Network A’s new series, Tuerck’d. Ryan Tuerck and his Drift Alliance buddy and 2009 Formula D Champion, Chris Forsberg, get into the drift beaters for a game of DRIFT. It’s basically challenge matching game like HORSE is for basketball. It looks like a ton of fun.
GT Channel brings us this exclusive footage from this year’s SEMA show. The CEO of Polyphony Digital and creator of the Gran Turismo series of racing games for the Sony Playstation, Kazunori Yamauchi, gets drifting lessons from the 2011 Formula D Champion, Diajiro Yoshihara in his LSx powered S13 Nissan 240SX. Yamauchi-san visits the SEMA show to pick give out awards to his favorite cars which are then featured in the Gran Turismo games. What makes this interesting is that Yamauchi-san clearly has an excellent understanding behind the physics and mechanics of car control, but has never tried drifting before. Check out how he does:

Vaughn Gittin Jr. entered the seventh and final round of the 2012 Formula D Championship at Irwindale Speedway with a slight lead in a tight battle for championship points. As luck would have it, he was eliminated early when he made a mistake while blinded by smoke. Network A put together a highlight reel of Vaughn from all of the rounds of this year’s season.
