Porsche 962 – Chris Harris

Somebody at Porsche must have heard that Chris Harris sold his 911 GT3 RS 4.0 liter for a Ferrari 599 and decided to win back his heart. They invited him to the Porsche test track to drive the Porsche 962 that won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1987. As part of the deal, they also let Harris pick the mind of the man who designed the 962, Norbert Singer. Not only do we get to see the car in action, the interview with Singer really brings the significance of the car into perspective.

Mercedes-Benz SLS Roadster on the Mille Miglia – Motor Trend

The Motor Trend YouTube channel continues to impress me with how well they present truly interesting content. On this episode of Epic Drives, Angus Mackenzie pays tribute to fellow Brit Stirling Moss’s victory in the Mille Miglia in the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR. He drives some of the same roads in the car from the current Mercedes lineup that best resembles the car that Moss drove, the SLS Roadster. The video takes a look at both cars, the history and significance of the race and why Stirling Moss’s victory was so special. They even get Moss to drive the SLS for part of the course and interview him at the end. I do not envy the writer who has to follow this masterpiece on the next episode of Epic Drives.

Renntruck vs. Ferrari – D Motor

This is a bit from the German version of Top Gear, D Motor. They pit a big rig up against a Ferrari 360 Modena around their test track. From what I’ve been able to gather, the truck is from the Renntruck European truck racing series. I don’t understand German, so I don’t know why they’re loading the Ferrari up with potting soil or why they chose that specific amount of potting soil. Beyond that, the rest of the video can be enjoyed as long as you like some good racing and Rammstein. On the off chance that Sabine and the truck driver are spewing profanities at each other and it offends somebody you know who understands German and was about to proclaim their undying love to you, I apologize.

If you thought this was awesome, you should also check out Mike Ryan rallying in his big rig.

Ferrari Parade Record

Silverstone Circuit in the UK has now hosted two Ferrari related world records. The largest parade of Ferrari F40’s took place over the summer. The latest record is for the largest Ferrari Parade without any specific model restrictions. They got 964 cars on track smashing the previous record of 490. The parade was led by Ferrari’s Formula 1 driver, Felipe Massa, in a new 458 Spider.
