Cult of the Turbo – Chris Harris

I came across this older Chris Harris video from back when he was still with Evo magazine. I think it came out last year when Porsche had just unveiled the 911 GT2 RS. Chris takes it and compares it with some other turbo cars from different time periods and build philosophies. It’s probably the only time you’ll see the GT2 RS parked next to a Noble M600, Jaguar XJ220 and a Ferrari F40. I’ll admit the video isn’t particularly informative, but it is fun to watch.

Chris Rado Sets the FWD Track Record at Road Atlanta

Chris Rado is a former drag racer with his team at Descendant Racing who now compete in the Global Time Attack series. They campaign a very distinctive Scion tC in the unlimited front wheel drive class. If you still don’t know who I’m talking about, it’s the car with the giant front wing on it. Check out this first video to get an introduction to the team, their enthusiasm and the car:

They just set the front wheel drive track record at Road Atlanta. It’s a pretty impressive feat to build a 1000 horsepower front wheel drive car and it’s even more impressive to have gotten this good at driving it.

Paintball Warfare

The folks that brought you the Human Slingshot and World’s Largest Rope Swing now present Paintball Warfare. They pretty much put together a multiplayer battle from Halo or Battlefield with people on foot, people in ground vehicles and even one dude in the air all with paintball guns. I even saw a potato cannon used as improvised paintball artillery. Not surprisingly, it looks like a lot of fun.

Subaru Puma RallyCross Team in the Global RallyCross Championship at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Subaru just released this excellent footage from the 2012 Global RallyCross Championship’s first stop at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Several of this year’s events are coinciding with NASCAR events and will be run in a format very similar to this. There was a lot of questions about how the course would look and I think they figured out a way to keep it interesting. There’s the requisite barriers, a jump and it looks like half of the loop is sprayed down with water. I’m sure it’s racing the NASCAR fans can enjoy.

USDM Jam Version 9

Have you ever wondered what people from other countries feel like when people in the US spend a lot of effort to import stock parts from their domestic markets to put on our cars? It’s an odd feeling. Check out this video from this year’s USDM Jam in Japan to see what I mean. It seems to be a celebration of some cars converted to US bumpers and badges with an influence from “stance culture.” There’s one shot of some girls dancing so I’ll go ahead and give this a *NSFW* warning. Even though there’s nothing close to nudity it, could be still be misconstrued by your boss.
