MadAzz Trikes New Years Slidefest

Drift Trikes started out as a way for the drivers in the D1 New Zealand series to have some fun during their off-season. What started out as a hobby has become massively popular and a full time business for some of the guys. These are highlights from a gathering of riders from the Whangas What, Drift Trike Fellas, Waitomo Massif and the Shore City Sliders put on by the MadAzz Trikes company.

D3 Electric Drift Trike

Don’t worry if you missed our first post about the Demon Energy Drift Trike Championship. The guys, who mainly consist of drivers from D1 New Zealand, have posted some new footage of them setting up for this year’s season. There’s a little **NSFW** language right at the end:

Normally that would already be some pretty cool content, but today we have more for you. You probably noticed that all this three wheel drift action is primarily powered by gravity. A company named D3 has decided to change all that in a Flux Auto approved manner. They added a 4 hp electric motor to it:  Continue reading

Demon Energy Drift Trike World Championship

Welcome to the world of downhill drift trikes. These are custom made adult sized tricycles with heavy duty BMX or mountain bike front wheels and brakes paired with PVC pipe rear wheels. Red Bull sponsors a series called Slider Kings in Europe where they ride these down really long mountain roads. This footage is from New Zealand where they run their events like professional drifting events. These guys are given a defined course with clipping points and they’re slides are judged for speed and angle. Qualifying happens individually and then the competition runs are run in tandem just like the automotive equivalent. Looks like some serious fun.

**NSFW WARNING** The soundtrack to this video has bad language. Mute it if you need to.

Slider Pit Bike

This pit bike mod is really an extension of Chris Harris’s Space Saver Experiment. The theory is that a car that is fast around a track isn’t necessarily fun. How fun a car is depends on its power to grip ratio. Basically it’s more fun if it’s easy to kick the back end out. These guys replaced the rear tire of their tiny pit bike with plastic tricycle wheels and round about drift madness ensues.

**NSFW WARNING** The Papa Roach soundtrack has a couple of bad words.
