ICON Resto-Mod Bronco – Jay Leno’s Garage

The CEO and Lead Designer of ICON, Jonathan Ward, stopped by Jay Leno’s garage with their latest creation, the resto-mod Ford Bronco. ICON searches the country for clean Bronco shells and then completely overhauls and upgrades them. The truck now has the 5.0 liter Coyote V8 from the new Mustang under the hood along with a Aisin-Warner transmission, Atlas transfer case, modern solid axles from Dynatrac and Stoptech brakes. All of the lighting has been replaced with LED’s and ICON even worked with the designer that created the Ford GT to re-imagine some of the details and interior trim that were parts bin sourced or overlooked on the original Bronco. It really is modernizing a classic chassis taken to the extreme and it’s a testament to the fact that there is still maniacal attention to detail and high caliber craftsmanship in the modern world.

Can-Am McLaren M6B Around Road America

This is ride along video is pretty amazing, but not because of some fancy editing or a good soundtrack. You will like this video simply for the insane performance and fury of the car that the camera is attached to. The car we’re talking about is a historic race car leftover from the legendary Can-Am series, the McLaren M6B. Jim Pace navigates this Chevy small block powered monster around Road America for our enjoyment.

No More Mister Nice Guy – 1941 Ford Sedan 2 Door

Meet Jim McCrady. Jim works as a machinist for Holley and he built this Frankenstein of a 1941 Ford Sedan 2 Door Hot Rod. He bought the body off of an old man who sold fresh eggs and then put it on a Chevy S-10 chassis and then powered all of it with a stroked Chevy small block being force fed by a Weiand blower and a Holley double pumper carburetor.

Jim mentions that he thinks of this song whenever he’s behind the wheel of his Hot Rod:

Monster Miata

Motor Trend stopped by the Monster Miata shop to chat with Martin Wilson about what has made is company so successful. Long story short, they build what is essentially a modern day Shelby Cobra. Take a lightweight rear drive roadster and stuff a Ford V8 into the front of it. The only difference is Wilson’s team has decided to start with a Japanese roadster instead of a British one. Monster Miata offers a kit that includes everything from engine mounts, revised suspension and a Ford 7.5 inch rear end to Monsterize your Miata. Turns out they’re also working on an LSx kit. Can’t wait to see that one.

This is the story of John Jackson, a self taught photographer who travels the country in his 1964 Corvair van taking pictures of awesome cars built by little shops that we may have never otherwise heard of. Jackson has put 170,000 miles on the van in the four years since his wife bought it for him for his birthday.
