2012 World Time Attack Challenge – 7Tune *UPDATED*

7Tune put together some amazing coverage of all of the action from this year’s World Time Attack Challenge from Eastern Creek in Australia. Last year’s defending champion is the Cyber Evo. The Cyber Engineering team wanted to retire the car, but decided to bring it out for one more go at WTAC. They were plagued with a ton of technical problems and ultimately retired when the engine’s rear main seal failed and started an engine fire (there’s a shot of it in the video). This year’s winner was a new team from Australia with their Evo named Nemo.

**UPDATE**  I found some development footage of the Cyber Evo as they were trying to get ready for the WTAC after the decision was made to delay the retirement of the car. The first video is about the development of the brand new aero package from C-West. Continue reading

2012 Australian Drifting Grand Prix Round 2 – Calder Park Raceway

It’s only natural that drifting be a popular pastime in Australia, the land of V8 Supercar racing and The Ultimate Burnout challenge. We might have to add video editing to that list if Mr. Scott Mitchell has anything to say about it. We are fortunate to have him bring us this coverage of the second round of the 2012 Australian Drifting Grand Prix at Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne. I would venture a guess to say that this will be the only place in the world to see two Holden Commodore Utes tandem drifting.

1983 Subaru Touring Wagon 4×4 Monster

Subaru tapped into a huge market in the 80’s by putting a capable 4WD drive train on a car based platform. It offered a great balance between capable off-road driving and on road practicality. Their years of sales success with all wheel drive cars has proved that they were really on to something. If you need any further evidence that the early Subarus were solid cars, check out this guy’s crazy lifted 4×4 Touring Wagon. He clears some pretty gnarly hill climbs that most people wouldn’t try in full blown trucks.

2012 Australian Drift Grand Prix Round 1

I’m always amazed at how the sport of drifting is able to attract highly talented photographers and video editors. Case in point: this is an amazingly executed video covering the first round of the Australian Drift Grand Prix that took place at Symmons Plains in Tasmania. The action and music are great and will have you smiling and enjoying yourself.
