2012 Gymkhana GRID Final

Monster Energy flew Ken Block and Vaughn Gittin Jr. to the UK to compete in the Gymkhana GRID Finals. From what I can tell, this was the final event in a European championship. Ken and Vaughn raced the rear wheel drive and all drive champions for fun after they won their events. Oh yeah, there was also a massive party.

Bodie Stroud’s 1969 Boss Mustang

This is the story of one of the cars featured at SEMA this year. It’s a 1969 Ford Mustang built by Bodie Stroud. The car is probably the most extreme definition of a resto-mod. Stroud cut out the Mustang’s unibody frame for a separate air-spring chassis. Under the hood is an ultra-rare aluminum 494 cubic inch V8 that Ford originally built for Mario Andretti’s Can-Am car in 1969. Only 10 of these engines were ever built and they never saw competition because they made too much power for the Can-Am cars at 777 horsepower. The rest of the body was modified to look somewhat like the funny car drag racers of the same era.

The Mercedes AMG Safety Cars

Formula 1’s official safety car driver, Bernd Maylanda, walks us through his career and the stable of safety cars he’s driven. All of the cars had been gathered with Bernd in a barn for a photo shoot for German car magazine. The line starts at the 1999 CLK55 and goes all the way to the debut of the new SLS AMG GT safety car for 2013.
