I’ve always thought of the Ford Escort MK2 as the European version of the Toyota AE86. Both cars are small, light and rwd with a solid axle and a rev-happy four cylinder engine. The MK2 and AE86 have both achieved cult following due to their successful formula for a fun, basic car that you can drive totally sideways. This is the story of former rally driver, Dave Jenkins, and his new business venture converting road going MK2 Escorts into top class historic rally cars.

How to Build a Supercar – McLaren MP4-12C
This is an episode of a show on BBC called “How to Build a _____.” It’s similar to shows like “How It’s Made” or “Ultimate Factories,” but seems to have a significantly larger production value. This episode of the show focuses on the current pride of the British Automotive Industry: the McLaren MP4-12C. You’ll get an inside look at the current McLaren factory as well as the new production facility that was opened to quadruple production on the MP4-12C. The new facility was opened to meet the demand for the new car whose waiting list is already up to two and a half years. We also get a view of the cars being assembled including the bonding of the aluminum crash structures to the carbon tub, installing the engine and painting the body panels. The show gets access to a couple of top secret development areas where clay models of potential car designs are made and the echoless room where the exhaust note was designed. McLaren is known for their fanatical attention to detail and you can see that in every square inch of their sterile production facilities and all of their processes. I’m usually a little leery of hour long videos, but I really enjoyed this one.

BMW E30 M3 vs. Mercedes-Benz 190E-16 – Motor Trend Head 2 Head
The guys over at Motor Trend are doing a great job with coming up with interesting comparisons for this Head 2 Head series on YouTube. This time they look at the two cars that built the Golden Years of DTM, the German Touring Car Championship. Another signature characteristic of the Head 2 Head series is the excellent review of the details of each car. The reviewers always describe what it’s like to drive the cars for those who will never have the opportunity. This video is no exception.

Pagani Huayra Details – Evo TV
Evo’s editorial director, Henry Metcalfe, seems to have a really good relationship with Horacia Pagani. It works out for us, because he brings us all the little details that make Pagani’s cars special. Metcalfe showed us what it was like to own a Zonda C12 and now he’s gotten an exclusive look at the production of the Huayra. The level of detail in each and every one of these cars is borderline crazy.
